What is STAP-budget?
Workers and job seekers in the Netherlands can apply for a STAP-budget up to €1,000 per year for training and development. The subsidy can be used for a training, course or education. The subsidy is called STAP, which stands for Stimulation of the Job Market Position.
With the money that is offered with the STAP-budget, the government wants you as a working or job seeker to be able to decide about your development during your career. This gives you more opportunities to keep your job or to find a new job.
Requirements
There are a number of conditions for applying for the STAP-budget. For example, the age for eligibility is 18 years or older, and no state pension is received. The training, course or education must be in the STAP-training register and must not have started at the time the STAP-budget is applied for. The application must be submitted at least 4 weeks before the start of the training. If the application is approved, the amount is paid to Staan Academy. UWV manages the applications and carries them out.
Furthermore, you can only apply for the STAP-budget once a year, and you must demonstrably have followed the training followed by the chosen trainer. If this is not the case, the UWV can decide to reclaim the subsidy received.
